Giving voice to ideas

For an "explorer", discovery is only half the journey. The other half is storytelling. I realized that even the most brilliant ideas stay in the shadows if you don't have the courage and the ability to convey them.

As an initially shy guy, I found in Toastmasters International the ideal gym to step out of my shell. Here I don't just learn to "speak in public", but I train myself to connect with people, structure my vision, and communicate with confidence.

What I have (and continue to) improve

Skill Practical takeaway
Crafting a speech Organizing complex ideas into clear speeches accessible to everyone (especially useful for me!)
Storytelling & Delivery Using vocal variety and body language to turn a speech into an emotional experience.
Impromptu Speaking (Table Topics) Developing mental agility to craft short impromptu speeches.
Feedback Learning to give constructive evaluations that motivate others to grow without taking things personally.
Vice President PR (Leadership) Applying my content creation skills for the clubs. I learned to manage communication, use LinkedIn and Google Business Profile for club growth.

The clubs I'm part of

  • The Xplorers Toastmasters club Milano: With a truly energetic atmosphere. Come visit us for free by booking on 👉 Eventbrite (guess which club I'm PR for... ☺️)
  • Milan-easy: The first club in Italy in a beautiful location.

My speeches

Every speech is an opportunity to give the audience a message (as my mentor says), whether it's in the world of botany, sports, or personal growth.

  • "Who am I?": My first speech (icebreaker).
  • "Pepino": The discovery and cultivation in Italy of a forgotten Inca plant.
  • "Slow and steady goes far": A counterintuitive paradox: how the best athletes really train.
  • "Sun is not just light": A journey through entropy to explain that the sun gives us order, not just energy (it was June and I had my physics oral exam, so I thought: why not?).
  • "90% failure = 10% success": Is starting a startup truly risky? A journey between statistics and life philosophy.
  • "Don't judge a...": Why not judging is impossible, but we must recognize that the first impression isn't always right.
  • "Relationship or correlation?": A journey into my communication style and how it influences my relationships with others.
  • "Dad": The story of a difficult experience where mentor (my dad) and mentee (me) overcame a tough challenge together.
  • "No, you're not wasting time": A speech on the science of sleep.
  • "A problem to solve": Analyzing my specific knowledge that I had recently discovered: solving problems.
