I collaborated with AMB Ercole Cantù on the Portello Mycological Exhibition. My role covered the entire exhibition workflow: assisting with the physical setup, helping identify dozens of mushroom specimens, and engaging visitors through guided tours and informational talks.
Why I Did It
Mycology for me is a great passion. Working with the association let me meet a variety of expert mycologists, exchange ideas, and share my knowledge with the public, fostering curiosity about fungi and their importance.
What I Learned
- Fungal identification – refined skills in recognizing macro‑ and micromorphological features, spore prints, and habitat cues.
- Exhibition logistics – planning layout, handling delicate specimens, and helping other volunteers for a smooth visitor flow.
- Science communication – translating technical mycological concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Collaboration with experts – learning from mycologists and integrating their insights into public presentations.
- Public engagement – developing interactive displays and hands‑on activities that sparked interest and encouraged questions.
